OUR STORY

Rock Retro Scissors : It’s more than just a “Hair Salon”, it’s the place to hangout, listen to cool tunes, get your hair “did” and buy Retro.

Imagined by Katie and Matthew Kromwijk from our love of hair, vintage and all things music, we wanted a place that you felt relaxed in and welcome no matter what your look is.

Back in the early 90’s, Katie played guitar and was lead vocalist in an Alternative Band, while Matthew pounded the skins in a Heavy Metal Band. Today, we are parents to 2 up and coming rock stars who want to share our passion with the rest of you.

Katie has been Hairdressing for 20 years, having worked in some of Adelaide’s premium Salons and for big Hair companies such as – Wella Professional, L’Oreal Professionnel and Alfaparf Milano as a Hair Colour Technician, training Hairdressers how to use colour and master creative techniques. She has worked with International and National artists in Hair shows and Events across Australia and has a passion not only for teaching up and coming Hairdressers, but also her clients on how to re-create their hair at home. She is also a talented make up artist working with photographers for Pin Up model and Music shoots.

Matthew is leading up Gift Oddities, selling anything that’s unique, cool and just down right funky, from , toys and books & home wares. He also manages the business/social media/marketing aspect and anything else that Katie just doesn’t understand!!

OUR VISION

As long term residents of Campbelltown in Adelaide South Australia, we  wanted to “bring the funk back to the burbs”. We believe that the suburbs have so much to offer and our area is growing and changing. We  offer a “no pretence  salon, catering from 1 to 100 yrs of age!

Don’t just come in for your hair, stop by to check out our Gift Store, our other retail brands or to just have a chat. It’s all about community.

Continuing on from the “Back Stage” area is the Gift Store, where we sell all manner of quirky girts and homewares. From Robot toys, pop icon collectables, cards, games, notebooks, finger puppets, hair bows, head scarves, earrings, makeup, necklaces, hair flowers…and loads more
