“Shocking experience. Have been having my hair coloured for more than 20 years and this would have to be one of the worst experiences.
Colourist (called a senior colourist) over processed the blonde foils in my hair may I also add they were very carelessly done indeed she pasted the mixture all over the hair including on the ends) Approx one third of my long hair broke off and I have been left with damaged spaghetti looking hair which she tried to fix and left it a grey colour. Don’t be fooled by their misleading and deceptive advertising of award winning salon. Even the manager of the salon said she does not have her hair coloured here. This is the first review I’ve written on goggle and felt do strongly that I had to write it.
Will take more than 2 years for my hair to recover. Manager did not charge me and offered for me to go and see one of their top colourists in another salon!! I did not take her up on the offer as apparently this person “trains” the staff!!!”

“I came to Melbourne with really healthy long bleached blonde hair, but it had been ruined by a number of salons (terrible colour, hair breaking off so badly I had to cut it all off). I finally went to Rokk Ebony on the recommendation of a workmate and was extremely pleased.

I see Patrick for my blonde – and he is amazing. He’s never damaged my already damaged hair, and never done a bad colour. He does quite complicated balayage and covers my grey roots, and it looks completely natural and grows out so well I don’t have to get my hair done every 6-8 weeks like I used to. He’s also really nice and you feel confident that you are in good hands.

Justin does my cuts. He is so technical and understands how my hair moves and its annoying foibles and manages it make it look great despite them. I have never felt as comfortable sitting in front of a man with a pair of scissors than I do with Justin!

I’ve had a few hairups done by other people at the salon. They aren’t quite as friendly as Patrick and Justin but they always do a good job.

I find that generally I do have to wait a while after my appointment time to get started which is a bit annoying. But, you spend less time in the chair than at a less professional salon so it’s not too bad overall.”

“Staff was friendly no doubt but the service was total crap. I was growing my hair for 4 years then finally thought to go shorter for a change. With the length I had and what redhead hairdresser did was pathetic! After I called to inform that I am not happy with the service I was booked again with senior stylist who just cut my hair even shorter trying to FIX it! Hate them will never recommend to anyone and will never go there again! ”

“As my usual hairdresser from Rokk Ebony Mentone left, I’ve been searching for another good hairdresser for about six months without success. I came into this salon on a Tuesday and maybe after some miscommunicatiom between myself and Justin but ended up with a more of a ombré look and not the belayage that I was looking for. So I called up the next morning and Justin was more than happy to have me back in. He worked his magic, blended the colour and made it perfect. What was more impressive is that he gave me a free blow wave which totalled the time spent in the salon to amost three hours and did not charge a single cent more. As a real estate agent, I believe in great customer service. The staff at this salon are always smiling and made my experience very enjoyable. Highly recommend Rokk Ebony South Melbourne.”

“I was meant to write my review a long time ago about this joint but then i dropped the idea hoping that most of you out there will try and see it for yourself. They have pretty good reviews, THAT i dont get. I didn’t have a good experience at all. I came & have my haircut done for the first time hoping it will be nice as the reviews are good & the prices are higher (thought they are well experienced) BUT no. I paid the first time rate (it wa not worth it), didn’t wash my hair, waited for ages (more than an hour) before i was served. I asked my hair to be layered (i have long hair). The girl said it’s oldie style & went for like a trim…. Went out & i feel like i didn’t go to the hair dresser at all. Didnt get what i was asking for. Anyway, the bottom line is, I reckon the place is overrated – period -. I won’t be thinking of coming back here anymore sorry. First impression counts”
