Chiropractic is a primary contact health care profession that is non-invasive and hands-on, focusing on the neuromusculoskeletal system.
Chiropractors provide diagnosis, treatment and preventative care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.
We use a combination of treatments, all of which are decided based on the specific needs of the individual patient.
After taking a complete history and diagnosing a patient, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment plan, usually involving highly specialised manipulative techniques referred to as adjustments.
We may recommend therapeutic exercise and also provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.
Chiropractic care may be used to provide symptomatic relief for patients with acute and chronic conditions, as well as to improve overall health and well-being as affecting the nervous system can lead to improvements in all organs and systems of our body.

What can I expect during my visit?
We will firstly take a complete history, followed by a physical examination which will include all the necessary orthopaedic and neurological tests in order to diagnose each patient.
We can then develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment plan, usually involving adjustments and soft tissue care.
We may recommend therapeutic exercise and also provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.
We use a combination of treatments, all of which are decided based on the specific needs of the individual patient.
If you have any previous imaging results or other relevant health information, please bring that with you.
If we feel the need to have further testing done, appropriate referrals will be made immediately. Patients from Kallangur Chiropractic Clinic who require x-rays can have them bulk-billed.
What exactly is a chiropractic adjustment?
An adjustment is a highly skilled and precise movement usually applied by hand to a joint of the body. It is high-velocity and low-force and therefore is quite gentle.
An adjustment restores normal movement to a fixated joint in order to optimize function of the joint and remove any interference to spinal nerves.
When some joints are adjusted, a gas bubble escapes causing the popping noise you may have heard about. This is the same principle applied as when opening a can of soda.
Some techniques, however, do not cause any popping noises and the sound has nothing to do with the quality of the adjustment. Adjustments performed with an instrument may be used.
Chiropractic adjustment techniques have been researched extensively, and there are many techniques for a chiropractor to choose to use that are based on the individual patient. Complications are rare and side effects, such as temporary soreness, are usually minor. Most patients experience immediate relief following an adjustment and look forward to being adjusted.
How many times will I have to come?
Every patient will have a different program of care as each person is unique in their circumstances. Once a full assessment is done, we can better provide an accurate prognosis.
Chiropractic care may be used to provide symptomatic relief for patients with acute and chronic conditions, as well as to improve overall health and well-being.
The benefits of regular adjustments go beyond pain relief, and improve the function of all of our organs and systems.
There are three phases of care:
- Phase One focuses primarily on symptomatic relief (decreased pain, improved mobility, reduced inflammation)
- Phase Two corrects long-term causes of your condition
- Phase Three maintains the benefits achieved and prevents recurring problems
The chiropractor will discuss your health goals and work with you to achieve them.

Children & Chiropractors
Today we find more parents bringing their children to chiropractors for day-to-day health concerns we’re all familiar with: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.
Chiropractors Do Not Treat Disease
It’s most important to understand that chiropractic is not a treatment for disease.
It’s purpose is to reduce spinal nerve stress, a serious and often painful condition most children (and adults) have in their bodies.
Spinal nerve stress interferes with the proper functioning of the nervous system, can weaken internal organs and organ systems, lower resistance, reduce healing potential and set the stage for sickness and disorders of all kinds.
When a chiropractor frees the nervous system from spinal stress, the healing power of the body is unleashed: the immune system functions more efficiently, resistance to disease increases, and your child’s body functions more efficiently.
Your child can respond to internal and external environmental stresses such as germs, changes in temperature, humidity, toxins, pollen and all the other stresses he/she comes in contact with more efficiently.
What Exactly Is Nerve Stress?
Spinal nerve stress (also referred to as vertebral subluxations, or fixations) is a misalignment or distortion of the spinal column, skull, hips, and related tissues (the structural system) that irritate, stretch, impinge or otherwise interfere with the proper function of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, spinal nerves and outlying or peripheral nerves).
Since the nervous system controls the function of the body, any interference to it can have wide-ranging effects.
Spinal nerve stress can be caused by physical, chemical and/or emotional stress.
Physical stress may start in the womb, with the baby lying in a distorted or twisted manner. Spinal nerve stress in newborns is more common than previously realized.
This may be caused by a traumatic or difficult birth which can introduce great stress to the infant’s skull, spinal column and pelvis.
Throughout childhood, the normal childhood traumas every child experiences can be a source of spinal and cranial trauma.
Most of the time, the pain from the initial injury goes away, however the damage incurred continues to affect the future function of the child’s nerve system.
How Does the Chiropractor Reduce Spinal Nerve Stress?
This is accomplished first by analysing the spinal column and related structures for balance and proper function.
Where the spinal column is found to be functioning improperly, the Doctor of Chiropractic performs precise corrective procedures called spinal adjustments.
Using his/her hands and/or specialized instruments to gently and specifically correct those abnormal areas, the spine and cranium regain their intended state of balance and the nerve system is freed from stress.
It’s All About Function!
Today’s parents are more concerned than ever about the adverse effects drugs have on their children.
Parents are increasingly asking, when handed a prescriptions for a child’s recurrent problem, ‘Is this really all I can do for my child? Is there a safer alternative?’
Parents are hesitant to merely mask symptoms with drugs and are worried about side effects.
Their desire to achieve a state of true health has led parents to seek health care options which support their children’s own natural ability to be healthy.
Chiropractic care is one such option. All children function better with 100% nerve function.
All children deserve the right to express their fullest potential. Chiropractic care for children is safe, gentle and effective. It allows for the opportunity for maximum potential for well-being.

Our therapists are trained in various types of massage, that range from a lighter, gentle relaxation massage , to a firmer deep tissue. Your therapist will communicate with you, in order to create a massage that works for you.
Please note that this clinic is a professional non- sexual practice.
Relaxation Massage
There are 2 types of Relaxation Massage. Swedish Massage; that is light and gentle so that you feel relaxed while on the massage table.
Therapeutic Relaxation Massage; that is thoroughly stretching all the muscles so that the muscular structure of the body is relaxed and you leave with all muscles feeling relaxed for the next week/month.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage was originally developed in the late 18th Century by a Swedish fencing master as the first systematic system of therapeutic massage in the West.
The strokes and movements of Swedish massage are each conceived as having a specific therapeutic benefit.
One of the primary goals of this type of massage is to increase blood flow to and from the extremities.
It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management
Therapeutic Relaxation Massage
Therapeutic Relaxation massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes.
It improves circulation and stretches the muscles, ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and young. This massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system.
A relaxation massage can be of light to medium pressure or medium to firm pressure.
These are relaxing massages that can help with circulation, headaches, muscular tension and stress and improves your overall feeling of well being.
Recommend: 1 hour, whole body massage. Fantastic as a gift certificate!
Deep Tissue Massage
A Deep Tissue Massage concentrates on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, specifically the individual muscle fibers.
While deep Tissue uses many of the same techniques as a relaxation massage the pressure may be more intense and specific as it focuses to release muscle tension.
It also releases fascia (connective tissue,) ligaments (which connect muscle to bone) and tendons (which connect bone to bone.) Using Contractual Tendon Release (CTR) along with Contractual Ligament Release (CLR) this technique produces amazing and quick results.
Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage.
It’s likely to be more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage. You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you.
This is your massage so make sure it is to your liking. However, when the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
Results with Deep Tissue massage can vary depending on a number or factors. How long you’ve had the particular complaint and how long since your last massage.
Most of us put up with a fair bit of pain for way too long. We have what we call ‘normal aches and pains’ and that varies from person to person, we only go looking for help when that becomes more than we’re used to.
It is unrealistic to think that tension built up over a number of years can be relieved in one hour.
You will likely need to have a few sessions to achieve good results. Usually 3 sessions at 1hour a week, is the start you need to relieve well established tight and knotted muscles.
Our aim would then be to see how you feel at missing a week, then 2 weeks and settling at once a month or 6weekly Therapeutic Massage visits to keep you maintained in a pain free body.
Many clients ask for firmer pressure thinking this will rid them of knots and tightness sooner. Not so. When you work a muscle more that it is willing to give you can cause greater inflammation and longer recovery time, neither of which is pleasant. Often the best answer is more regular massage along with heat therapy, stretching and exercise. I encourage you to take note of the saying to ‘Listen to your body when it whispers and you won’t have to hear it scream!!’
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage will release all those tight muscles you accumulate throughout the week and aids in recovery of injury.
This could include back and neck pain, shin splints, sprains, calf tightness, knee soreness, quadriceps and hamstring injuries. Recommend: ½ or 1 hour deep tissue massage.
With a few visits it will relieve muscular tension acquired over a lifetime and continue to keep you moving as you used too.
Recommend: 1/2 hour or 1 hour, deep tissue massage.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage is a combination of Relaxation and Deep Tissue Massage. A therapeutic massage starts by warming up the muscles and moves through treating the body as a whole working towards the cause of the problem.
It is very thorough in nature. Using Contractual Tendon Release (CTR) along with Contractual Ligament Release (CLR) this technique produces amazing and quick results.
Therapeutic Massage also dealswith common injuries, at the site of the injury itself and /or the problems caused on the rest of the body as it supports an injury.
This is the massage you want to make part of your monthly health routine.
Benefits of Therapeutic Massage
With a thorough massage and the relaxing of tension in the muscles, tendons and ligaments, a greater and longer-lasting benefit will be achieved from Therapeutic Massage.
It is particularly beneficial when your body has been preparing for or competing in a sporting event or carrying an injury.
Monthly therapeutic massage will keep you on top of the effects of stress and tension in the body reducing the incident of injury. It’s important to drink plenty of water after a massage session to help eliminate toxins from the body.
Recommend: 1 hour or 1½ hour full body or a 1 hour back, neck, shoulders, head and arms therapeutic massage.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage like Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, by either following or crossing over the muscle fibers, fascia and tendons.
These types of massage therapy are usually used to address specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation, sporting and occupational injuries, RSI, and physical and mental fatigue.
The techniques can include Trigger Point Therapy, deep tissue massage and stretching thereby creating an improved range of motion through the joints.
Recommend: ½ or 1 hour Remedial Massage.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated basalt stones as an extension of their own hands.
By placing them on the body, the heat can be both deeply relaxing and help to warm up tight muscles, which allows the therapists to work deeper into the muscles, more quickly.
Recommend : 1 – 1 1/2 hours for a thorough hot stone massage
