A Hairdresser, salon owner Thomas Phillips, established the software company in 1984. Started his carer in Hairdressing in 1961 Started his first Salon in 1966.

By the 1980s had seven salons Now why would a Hairdresser, who owned and ran seven successful salons, get involved in the computer industry? Simply, Necessity! As any salon owner knows, to run a successful business sound decisions have to be made on a regular basis, and those decisions have to be based on accurate statistics if they are to work. No hearsay, personalities or personal likes or dislikes as these are all biased in some way or other. You need very accurate statistics on client visits or those not have returned to be accurate, to make sound decisions.

The same with any area of salon management you need to know exact figures on Stock, Staff, Clients etc. Now back in 1980 the only way to compile those statistics was to do it him self or employ office staff to collect and compile the figures. This was of course a costly and at times an unreliable exercise. Because the human element stepped in and could influence the results. Thomas decided that Computers were the only option to gain fast and accurate information, with out bias or personalities influencing the information. Computers were available but not the programs (that which makes the computer produce the desired information). There was simply nothing on the market that was suitable, to give the information & answers required for a salon owner. So Thomas contracted a team of computer programmers and the original salon system was born.

The problem of having accurate, current statistics on his salons and staff performance was resolved. Plus an added bonus became available that was the ability to commutate with his clients on a personal level as he did in the salon environment. Direct Mail later expanded to Fax, email & lately SMS As time progressed and the hairdressing profession became more and more professional and at the same time the personal attention that a client expected, was becoming more difficult to deliver.

So the uncertainty of how to give a large organisation a personal touch was resolved by Thomas regularly writing to his salons clients. He thanked the new clients for putting their trust in his salon and always remembered every client’s birthday, even the kids. Business BOOMED! This was a large professional, but very personal and caring salon, which compared to none. Thomas never forgot that his first salon started with himself and one other staff member and quickly developed to 12 staff. Not necessarily the greatest hairdressers but the key to its growth was SERVICE with a very FRIENDLY and PERSONAL professional approach.

Over the years that followed, business was great, so time was spent on more and more program development to offer even better service and even better information that was needed to ensure the results of decisions being made could be carefully monitored. Then it started! Other salon owners wanted the same information about their own salons and as the principles involved and used were after all, just as applicable whether there was 2 staff or 20. So the company was established and the supply of the program to other progressive salon owners was underway. Since that time the program has been under continual development.

Due to the fact that the salons that invested in the program or computer systems were the top 10% of salon owners as these salon owners could see the benefit of the information and them selves progressive thinkers & business owners. Who already successful in there own rights or were motivated and going places in the future. Whether a one man show or large salon or group, the common dominator was they wanted to be successful and accurate information & promotions was the answer to be in control of there future.
