History

Sam Rifici was born in Ficarra near Messina Sicily, Italy and migrated to Australia in 1927 with his family.

In January 1946 Sam Rifici established his first men’s hairdressing business, in Lake Street, Northbridge and then in 1950 opened a second salon in Wembley.

His first ladies salon was established in Hay Street, Perth in 1958 (the first airconditioned salon in Western Australia)!

Shortly after, in 1959, Sam opened another ladies hairdressing salon in Murray Street, the largest salon in Perth and from offices at these premises the Administration of the Rifici Group of Companies was operated until 1998.

The office was then relocated to premises currently occupied at The Garden Office Park.

Sam was under such demand for his services that in the early 1960’s he required 10/- (shillings) deposit to hold appointments for his regular clients which they would lose if they did not keep their appointment!

For the years 1949 to 1951, Sam achieved the status of Australian Hairdressing Champion.

From his humble beginnings he went on to establish a network of 23 salons throughout the Perth metropolitan area, Kalgoorlie and in Singapore.

Today the legacy created by Sam continues with the family operating salons at two of Perth’s most well known Shopping Centres – Floreat Forum and Karrinyup.

Floreat Forum was in fact the first Shopping Centre to open in WA in 1968 and Sam Rifici’s was a foundation tenant at the Centre as they also were at Karrinyup Shopping Centre.

For seniors we provide a 15% discount on all in salon services from Monday through to Thursday before 5.30pm.
