Serena, a hair extensions wearer and lover, decided one day that she was sick of paying thousands of dollars every year for the privilege of having long hair. She believed, as with most businesses, that the big players in the industry were probably buying their hair extensions for peanuts, then placing huge mark up’s on the hair and over changing salons and the consumer. It turns out she was right!

With a vision to provide high quality hair at a low price, Serena and her partners Evan and Gerry, started work on building the foundation for a brand that is now worn by celebrities and used in salons across the globe. For starting a Hair Extensions Revolution!!

There were 3 key areas that Secret Stylist felt they had to excel.

The first was sourcing high quality hair. There are so many poor quality hair extension brands on the market. So often we hear horror stories about hair going dry or matting after being worn for less than a month, so after sourcing hair from literally hundreds of different manufacturers we began subjecting the hair to rigorous testing. Testing that would literally take months at a time. This would include having live models wear the hair as well as conducting some controlled testing in our lab.

What we found was that almost 90% of the hair extensions we had purchased from different manufacturers, failed miserably. But in the 105 of hair extensions that passed with flying colours, we found success!!!! We had in our hands, what we felt were the most high end and professional hair extensions available. We were excited!!!

So now we had our product! The next step was to create a pricing structure that would work for both the hairdresser and the consumer. WE decided that even though our hair was much higher quality than most of the big players in the industry, we would keep our prices lower. Much lower in fact. Whilst most of the high end hair extension companies charge between $250 and $700 for 100 grams of hair (100g is what is required for a standard full head), our prices range from as little as $160 – $310, depending on what type of hair extensions you require.

Lastly we wanted to make it easier for hairdressers to offer hair extensions in their salon by holding free training sessions and supplying free marketing materials using high-end models and photography, designed to impress the pants of anyone who see’s them!

Unlike other companies who charge upwards of $1000 per person for hair extensions training, we decided to provide training for free to any salon that purchases a starter pack from us. This is part of our commitment to clean up the industry by ensuring that hairdressers are giving their clients the best results possible We also want to make sure that salons can get clients through the door, so we provide them with gorgeous brochures, posters, t-shirts and other marketing materials free of charge (unbelievably, most hair extension companies charge salons for the cost of brochures and posters). We even put all salons who attach Secret Stylist hair extensions, on our website so potential customers can find the salon closest to them.

With these 3 key areas making up our vision for Secret Stylist, we have achieved great things over the last 4 years. From selling clip in hair extensions from the back bedroom of Serena’s house, to now selling our several product ranges all over the world, it seems things just keep getting better! Our hair is now worn by countless celebrities, used in photo shoots and even Hollywood movies! We are being fitted in salons across Australia and around the globe and we welcome new salons to the Secret Stylist family every single day.
