Laser Tattoo Removal Sydney

A recent survey conducted in the UK found that one quarter of people who had a tattoo regretted it one month later! Also, age seems to play a big role in tattoo removal. Many people, lack the foresight when getting a tattoo at an early age, especially when it is in an obvious place. There are many different combinations of reasons why people are making the important decision to remove tattoos.

If you are finally starting to regret putting designs, strange animals, people’s names on your body: Tattoos can be a unique act of self expression, a way to remember a deceased friend or member of the family, a sign of your love for a girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, mum, dad or child, or pet. What happens when the pleasant memories are gone? What do you do when those strange animals or designs are no longer appealing?

Tattoo Removal With Qswitched ND Yag Laser

Michele is offering TATTOO REMOVAL for body tattoos with the latest Q –SWITCHED ND:YAG laser. Registered with the TGA (therapeutic goods association of Australia).

Pulses of light are emitted at nanosecond pulse duration ( 1 nanosecond is 1billionth of a second ) the laser light is directed onto the tattoo where the light is absorbed by the tattoo ink. The laser light is attracted by the following colours: black, blue, red, and it will shatter those inks which will then be eliminated by the epidermis , visible when skin peels , also by the phagocytes, ( they are cells , such as a white blood cell, that engulf and absorb waste material, harmful microorganisms , or other foreign bodies in the bloodstream and tissues ) and the lymphatic system.

More than one treatment is necessary to remove all tattoo pigment. The amount of treatments depends on the age of the tattoo , the ink used, how deep the tattoo was implanted.

It is very effective on black, blue, red, brown,( it is effective for age spots and sun spots removal ) but there is also fading of most colours to some degree, however green, yellow, pink, orange and purple can be troublesome.

Medical and traumatic tattoos respond well ,but the origin of the tattoo is very important, if it is unclear, a biopsy is recommended.

Cosmetic tattoo ink, containing iron oxide can permanently turn black ( most cosmetic tattoos do contain iron oxide).

Lip colours containing titanium dioxide ( light colours) will also turn black.

Tanned skin whether obtained by the sun,or the use of sun beds is a problem, the tattoo cannot be removed if the skin is tanned, so if considering tattoo removal, please wait until the skin returns to your natural skin colour.

Do not apply fake tan. If fake tan has been applied recently, wait until it has disappeared before you have your tattoo removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

DOES IT HURT?

Most clients describe the sensation as being hit several times with a rubber band, in other words it is like a sting followed by a sensation of warmth. At Sydney Body Tattoo Removal we advise you to purchase a tube of emla cream from your chemist. Emla is an anaesthetic cream which you apply thickly on the area you wish to remove. It is recommended to apply it 1 hour before the treatment and cover it with Gladwrap. Before and during the treatment, ice will be applied in the area to help with the discomfort.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

It takes a lot longer to remove a tattoo than to get a tattoo. Each tattoo is different and is assessed during the free consultation. As a rule of thumb it can take from 4 to 10 sessions 6 weeks apart ( depending on the age of the tattoo, the type of ink used and wether it is black or in colour).

Small black tattoos are easy to remove, the bigger the tattoo the more sessions you will require. Multi coloured designs take longer to remove than black tattoos. The number of treatments are affected by the size and your skin type. After several treatments you will notice a temporary whitening of the skin area that has been treated, and over time, the skin returns to its normal colour.

ARE THERE ANY PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE DURING THE TREATMENT?

While you are having a tattoo removed, you must not expose that area to the sun before , during and for some weeks following the treatment./

At Sydney Body Tattoo Removal, a full assessment is made during your free consultation and recommendations will be made. Sometimes you will need to consult a Doctor to get a medical clearance before the treatment can proceed.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Side effects are usually temporary and can be mild, rarely can they be severe, and they are:

BACTERIAL INFECTION

Keep the area covered and observe good hygiene practices. Any infection of a wound can result in scarring. If you are prone to cold sores, the herpes simplex virus can be activated. In that case you should go on a course of Valtrex tablets ( available on prescription only) the day before the treatment

HYPOPIGMENTATION ( LOSS OF COLOUR IN THE SKIN )

The skin can become lighter and can take up to a year to go back to its original colour.

HYPERPIGMENTATION ( THE SKIN BECOMES DARKER )

It can occur because of inflammation of the area and a brown mark will appear and will take many months to fade using fading cream

SCARRING

It is quite rare and is most likely to appear with darker skins.
However it can happen with lighter skins , particularly with some sun exposure, that is why you must follow the advice given for before, during and after the treatments.

TATTOO TURNS BLACK

If the tattoo ink contains iron oxide or titanium dioxide it will TURN BLACK
