Sydney Shoulder Clinic is a group of Physiotherapists, Sports Physicians and Orthopaedic Surgeons who collectively aim to provide co-ordinated best practice shoulder care. We are a subgroup of the Orthosports, orthopaedic team. Located in Sydney, Orthosports is a professional association of Orthopaedic surgeons, Sports Physicians and Physiotherapists that formed in 1989.
Since this time we have been developing a strong interest in shoulder care. This passion led to the formation of the Sydney Shoulder Clinic in 2004, which allowed us to provide the best practice coordinated shoulder care that you are seeking. The Sydney Shoulder Clinic is the largest multi-practitioner shoulder service in Sydney. We have five orthopaedic surgeons, three physicians and physiotherapists who have extensive experience in the management of shoulder problems.
Most people with shoulder problems can be assessed by our non-surgical team, ie, a Physiotherapist or a Sports Physician. Such an assessment usually allows us to determine appropriate management. If you require a surgical opinion then an appointment with one of our Orthopaedic surgeons can be arranged promptly.
Most shoulder problems do not require a surgical opinion. As such, an assessment by a physiotherapist or a sports physician is very often the most appropriate starting point. All of our practitioners have postgraduate qualifications that allow best practice assessment and management of your shoulder complaint. On our team page, you can review what our practitioners offer.
All doctors at Sydney Shoulder Clinic are actively involved in teaching at both under-graduate and post-graduate levels. Most of the Sydney Shoulder Clinic surgeons have appointments at major teaching hospitals in Sydney.
If you are uncertain as to who you should consult initially, then please phone Tim Neville Physiotherapist, on 1300 112 393 to discuss your assessment options.

Our physiotherapists are experienced clinicians with extensive experience in the assessment and management of shoulder disorders.
Our postgraduate qualifications, combined with this experience allows us to offer you the appropriate care that you are seeking. Our aim is to offer best practice shoulder care. For most people this involves being prescribed with a specific exercise plan that is usually performed as a home program. If your assessment indicates suitability for a gym exercise program, then an appropriate program/advice will be provided. Occasionally your assessment will indicate restricted shoulder movement which often requires a more intensive room’s based program.
Our experience with shoulder rehabilitation dates back to 1989. Since then we have fine-tuned our shoulder rehabilitation plans on a regular basis to provide up to date quality shoulder care.
Our Physiotherapists are experienced in the physiotherapy management of shoulder impingement, rotator cuff disorders, frozen shoulder and shoulder instability.

Our physicians are specialist trained in problems that affect the joints and muscles and have a strong interest in shoulder care. As such, even if your shoulder complaint is not sporting one, their training allows effective management of a wide variety of shoulder complaints.
Commonly this includes assessment and management of shoulder impingement, rotator cuff disorders, frozen shoulder and shoulder instability. The Sports Physician can arrange diagnostic imaging as required, as well as co-ordinating your shoulder care management.
Our Sports Physician’s can prescribe medication to help manage shoulder inflammation as well as your pain. Often, shoulder complaints that have an inflammatory basis benefit from an anti-inflammatory injection into the shoulder. The Sports Physician’s are skilled at administering this injection.
