Daniel

Internationally inspiring, interesting, mysterious and ridiculous cool. Daniel created his vision of hairdressing to an unseen level, His down-to-earth approach and 15 years global experience, gives him a unique flair and distinctive approach. Swaggering the total appreciation of the type of hairdressing needed to keep hairdressers involved in their work and clients in love with their hairdresser.

What is a celebrity hairdresser?

-As a successful hairdresser and a creator of coming trends, one must own technical ability, creativity, passion, flair and a little luck…

How It All Started

My mom was a huge inspiration to me as she was a very regular in a salon, and i grew up around hairdressing from an early age. When i was 16 i cut my friends hair at home, a total restyle. It was quiet horrifying but it also made me realize that it was also something i enjoyed a lot, without any hesitant hairdressing became my future.

The Journey

My lack of knowledge in the beginning really helped, and it really refined what little i knew to make a style work, if u ask any other person that does a creative thing they all went to schools and

learnt all these different things to narrow down what they were good at, Like a chef they would use 5 different ingredients with a slab of butter and they would create the most amazing thing you’ve ever tasted, I guess the idea and journey was to create the most beautiful creation with the simplest techniques and with no complication that i can. Like all Juniors and young Hairdressers i

was a rebel set to destroy the industry of hairdressing from within its core… I was a bad student of many patient teachers. I was never on time to work, never had any goals, hated sweeping floors and rocked up work hung-over. Being just talented in the art got me nowhere and it took me way too long to realize that, and its true what they say about starving artists.. Normal

= Poor and Crazy = Rich
But when your starving it also creates a force of desperation.
I actually believed i was brilliant… I wasn’t and I was naive as hell.
Starving did made me a better hairdresser. My biggest pet peeve of all time. I see so many hairdresser who refuse to tak

e a business class, refuse to learn about financial planning, and think that they are a better artist for it. Shakespeare was rich. So was Norman Rockwell, Picasso, Elvis, and a litany of other artists.
When i see something i don’t think is that ‘fashionable enough’ or is that ‘of the moment enough’, im just reacting.

On Inspiration

I was once told, “To become a good artist.. You actually need to be a good artist.” those words stuck like glue.. Th

e inspiration and creative process to all my work is never the same, as its always spontaneous and without method.. Being creative is like jazz, it just happens. I guess my inspiration is just virtually everything, it comes from places I visit, the shows I’ve seen, the people i meet and how they present themselves to the world.

Van Gogh discovered Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism in Paris where he met Paul Gauguin and other Impressionists. In his paintings he reflected his internal state of mind, as his famous Starry Night painting shows. People say he saw something that none of us saw, I say he just saw something we didn’t want to.Van Gogh suffered from mental fits of madness. During one of his mental bouts, he cut a part of his left ear with a razor while pursuing Gauguin. Ironically, this was the time where he was able to produce most of his famous art pieces with his recognizable style, using bright colors. He produced 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings; these were in the last ten years of his life. He stayed in a mental asylum at Saint-Remy where he later committed suicide. During his lifetime, he only sold one painting.

Image

Appearance and perception are important (Tho not necessary the most important). How we look say a lot about how we perceive ourselves. I’ve been surrounded with so called artists and self-proclaimed icons and honestly at the end of the day I learned that its really important to feel comfortable regardless on how u decided look …. even if it means walking down the street with flamingo pink Mohawk with 9 inch glittering heels.. so be it

Style Over Practicality Anytime….

Reviews

“You just know when a hairdresser starts cutting whether they have skills or not, whether they love hair or it’s just a job. I had been searching and searching for a hairdresser / salon for a while now. I tried cheap ones, expensive ones, home hairdressers etc…I’m the kind of person that when my hair isn’t right I just feel a little bit off. I love hair and I expect my hairdresser to love it too. To be creative, to think outside the square, not to pump out some generic cut. Well, I’m so happy to say, I found my salon and my hairdresser in Paddy @ Tao of Hair. He was a quiet guy, but very nice and extremely gentle. I really didn’t know what I wanted to do (grow out or stay short), he said I should definitely stay short & straight away, I could tell..this guy knows what he is doing, this guy has some skills. So, I just said…”do whatever you want” and left it up to him. What I got was a style I had never had before, something modern and very easy to look after. So happy with my experience at Tao. Looking forward to my next visit and experimenting with all sorts of styles. Thanks guys. PS. those shampoo basins are the most comfortable around. Awesome.”

“Had my hair cut with Lily last week and I am in love! Of course your hair should look great when you leave the salon but what about when you wash and style it yourself? As my hair is naturally wavy, this is always a concern for me. Well now my hair looks great whether I blow dry it or not and the long layers work with my texture and look so effortlessly chic. Thank you Lily I will definitely be coming back ❤️”

“This place is amazing the atmosphere is incredible, the people are so lovely and they do a terrific job. I dyed my hair for the first time ever yesterday and I couldn’t be happier Will definitely be calling this place home soon!”

“So happy you have moved to King Street! Work right across the road at Surge Fitness Kings Square so can pop over on my lunch breaks now to get my hair done! Always do a great job on my colour-exactly what I want and so friendly too!”

“Went here a few weeks ago and was nervous to get my long hair cut but I had nothing to worry about! Lily was amazing and took care of me with constant reassurance. Was so happy with my haircut and would definitely go back!! Thanks Tao!”

“After spending a long time searching for an exceptional hair dresser, I finally found Lily! Not only is she talented, she is caring and simply lovely to chat with. I will be going back soon, without a doubt.”
