OUR STORY

The Body Therapy Clinic was established  in West Lindfield in February, 2000 and is the culmination of a dream of husband and wife Mark and Iris Wainer.

The clinic offers therapeutic healing in a warm, caring environment. There is a need to take care of oneself in a society that is very fast moving and stressful.  Stress and tension cause the body to perform below its optimum level.  For Sports people, who are constantly needing the body to perform at its peak and keep injury to a minimum, regular body work is essential.

The Body Therapy Clinic offers to people of all ages with varied needs a place to come and receive the appropriate body therapy.

Our Team

MARK WAINER

Mark Wainer has been working as a body therapist since 1995.

Initially he studied SLM Myotherpay and then went on to study Zen Bodytherapy.

Over the years Marks has been doing ongoing study in different areas of massage – myofascial release, integrated fascial release, functional release and pranic healing.

Most recently he has completed a course in Holistic Bowen Therapy.

Mark is a very intuitive therapist, empathic with a very good understanding of the body. He deals with pain and injury, his passion being to rid the body of pain.

Mark is registered with ATMS and as such accredited with most health funds

IRIS WAINER

Iris has been passionate about yoga since the age of 16 and it has always been a dream of her to run yoga classes from her own centre

She became a yoga teacher in 1994 studying with IYTA

In 2000, when the clinic came into being, Iris studied massage therapy which has been the perfect compliment to her yoga teaching

Both modalities have allowed her to focus on bringing the body into balance, addressing the issues of stress, posture and breath

Like Mark, Iris strives tolearn more about the body and continues to do ongoing study in both modalities

Iris is registered with ATMS and as such accredited with most health funds

SANDRA LEE

Massage therapy at The Body Therapy Clinic uses a combination of a number of techniques to bring the body into alignment enabling it to heal and work at its optimum level.

The technique/s used will be what we assess will get the best releases and results for each individual client.  Deep tissue massage techniques, acupressure, myo-fascial release, trigger point releases and energy work are used to balance the body relieving it of blockages and tension.

Ongoing study is an important part of our commitment to you, our clients.  We treat a wide range of pain and injury  – acute and chronic, So whether you present with a problem or injury, or are just in need of some rebalancing and relaxation we have the expertise to help you.

ZENTHERAPY

Zentherapy is hands-on, deep tissue work that aligns the body’s physical structure and eliminates the blocks in muscles, joints, and connective tissue.  As the body’s structure is balanced, pain is relieved, movement is easier and vital energy(“Ki”) increases.

Zentherapy works through the body from top to toe, freeing the soft tissue and creating balance.  The practitioner works with the client, locating blocks, moving tissue and creating more body awareness.

The therapy takes place over ten sessions to be completed in the client’s own time frame.

HOLISITIC BOWEN THERAPY

Bowen is a very gentle and non-invasive soft connective tissue hands-on therapy. It is an extremely powerful technique which works effectively, quickly stimulating the flow of water through the body. Water carries energy around the body through the soft connective tissue or fascia. It is important to understand that without a free balanced flow of this energy throughout the body, health challenges of varying kinds and severity could result.
