THE Hairdressing

THE hairdressing was founded in June 1999 by Darren Jones, who to this day remains the Director.

The concept was to create a modern but timeless boutique hairdressing salon that provided personalised hairdressing services, in a calm, relaxed environment.

The salon was designed by Sydney Architect Gavin Gillett.

The inspiration was drawn from 50’s and 60’s housing and blended with some beautiful elements from current industrial designers such as the Philippe Stark hair washing basins.

‘We surveyed our clients to find out what they were looking for and what made them feel comfortable in a hairdressing salon and one of the key words that came out was an ‘intimate’ space.

Gavin interpreted this by creating a series of smaller more private spaces that blended seamlessly into each other.’

“The idea was to create a sanctuary for our clients, away form the hustle and bustle of modern life. You can enjoy fresh espresso coffee from local roasters, fresh leaf tea and a selection of juices.”

THE hairdressing clients enjoy complimentary blow-dries to complete each cut or colour, and complimentary tune-ups or fringe trims to keep you looking fresh between appointments.
