About Us
Our philosophy
We listen to each clients unique story and provide individualised assessment and treatment options, via a unique blend of hands on manual therapy, education and exercise to achieve individual goals.
Katherine King
Katherine graduated from the University of Sydney in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a Masters in Physiotherapy. She begun her career working in rehabilitation hospitals with a focus of postoperative orthopaedic rehabilitation and neurological cases. Katherine then went on to pursue a career in musculoskeletal physiotherapy where she has had the opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s most renowned physiotherapists, particularly in the field of spinal, pelvic and hip dysfunction. Katherine has also gone on to attain Pilates instruction qualifications and teaches both studio and mat Pilates here in Avalon at Pureform Pilates and Balanced Studio.
Katherine’s passion for continuing education and current research has lead her to complete many educational courses along her path including courses in dry needling, Pilates and The Discover Physio Series – Integrated Systems Model, under world renowned physiotherapist Dr LJ Lee.
It is the Integrated Systems model that has been the most influential on Katherine and now shapes the way she practices. This model essentially encourages the client to be treated as a WHOLE person and not just one painful body part. It has a large focus on finding and treating the core issue of why you may be experiencing pain or not functioning optimally, and therefore enables us to prevent a reoccurrence of the same injury or movement dysfunction. So essentially it is a LONG term solution. Not a quick fix.
Katherine also has a passion for patient education and involving the client as much as possible in their own journey to health and will therefore ensure that you have a thorough understanding of your condition and a clear plan outlined as to how together, you are going to achieve optimal health and performance.
Outside of the clinic Katherine shares her passion for education by assisting renowned Physiotherapist Nichole Hamilton teach her ‘Hip workshop’ to Physiotherapist’s across Australia. A role she is honoured to have and loves doing!
When Katherine is not in the clinic helping her clients achieve better health, she is often pursuing anything and everything to do with the outdoors and fitness. Surfing and yoga to balance the body and mind, running to challenge her sanity and cycling…… well because she loves it!
