My name is Gaye – owner and creator of  The Skin Care Clinic.

I am also a registered nurse and have been working with skins for almost 20 years.

My philosophy? I simply do not like known nasty chemicals in my life.
Therefore, I only stock on my website, and in my business, product ranges that I believe are good for you. This means that they will do no harm in the short or long term; in fact they should make you healthier. Skin which is intrinsically healthy will look and feel good no matter your age. Of course, it helps that the ranges I have chosen have cutting-edge science and technology behind them; their results are proven. I see this on a daily basis in my clinic with my clients.

I have been doing what I do with skins for a long time! I consult, examine, diagnose and treat all sorts of skin concerns in all ages. Hormones, sun damage, ageing, oil and hydration are the main culprits; however, these are what we see and feel. Often the real causes of our skin problems, besides our time in the sun, are our stress levels and – believe me – how our gut copes with everything in our lives. So I take a holistic approach when I suggest a solution. Often it is the simple things we can change that make a big difference in how we look.

My background is plastic surgeon nursing for around 15 years. I have seen first hand what helps skin to heal, what traumatises it, and I understand why it may resist the help we try to give it.

My mission

is to “educate and create”; my focus is on skin products that are scientifically proven, safe, effective, plant based and which allow the cells to function as designed. This will result in a skin that will age gracefully, deal with hormonal fluctuations in all ages including acne and dehydration, and feel nice on the inside as well as to the touch. I don’t believe a healthier skin can be created using “instant” results machines and products. There is a place for IPL, for Lasering and Omnilux; however, it is in conjunction with time permitted for healing and is best with known nasty-free good skin care.

I also sell the Miessence Certified Organic range of products. Made in Queensland and sold all over the world, they give you everything you need from skin care to hair and body products to household cleaners. This completes my support for you in every aspect of your life.

Who We Are

Gaye Barlow

The owner of The Skin Care Clinic and lover of everything natural and good for the skin.  Gaye’s interest in the science behind good skin began in the 10 years she was nursing with a plastic surgeon and many patients were asking “what should i be using to slow the aging process?” She researched and found safe, proven, results driven product ranges. This was way back in the 80’s; the ranges and science have changed but her philosophy has simply been reinforced. She believes that a good looking and feeling skin in any age is a healthy skin and this reflects the state of the person’s body and mind.

This year she has completed her nutrition studies to aid her understanding of gut health and thereby assist her to better solve skin problems.

She is a mum of three adults, grandma of two, lives by the sea and enjoys walking, gardening and reading. She loves the adventure of travel and exploring other cultures.  Her passion is really about helping you to to have the healthiest skin possible.

Emma – Skin Care Adviser

Emma is a registered nurse whose passion lies in health, wellness, nutrition and life balance. Coming to The Skin Care Clinic has bolstered her enjoyment of helping people in a new and varied ways, that was not available through her previous position in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Emma is currently studying her Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies which will provide her with the expertise to treat all your ageing concerns using laser, IPL and injectables. She is looking forward to combining these with a holistic approach to skin care to give you the best possible results.

Emma previously worked as a personal trainer and gym instructor and has a Bachelor in Commerce. In her personal life she is married with three gorgeous boys under 10.

Meagan – Skin Care Adviser

Meagan is another Skin Care Advisor and our very talented Makeup Artist. With over ten years experience, managing MAC Cosmetics and running her busy freelance business, she has come to us with a desire to further her knowledge in the aesthetic industry.

Meagan’s goal is to educate clients on the importance of healthy skin which, of course helps to create a flawless makeup finish. To complement her role, she is also undergoing an Advanced Diploma in Dermal Science.

Meagan offers group, or individual tutorials, Special occasion makeup and is also available to travel to your destination.

She enjoys consulting and analysing client’s skin and then watching their skin change over time as they progress through the program of care she has developed for them. Her favourite treatments are the Vitamin A Infusion and Dermafrac – “they really are brilliant”.

Meagan lives by the ocean, loves gardening and lives a healthy lifestyle with her husband and beautiful son.

Rosie – Skin Care Adviser

Rosie is a Skin Care Adviser who brings a new take on healthy beauty options.  With a Health Science Degree focussing on nutrition she has over 8 years’ experience in the beauty industry and has always searched for the latest healthier options for traditional beauty therapies.

She is the eyebrow queen in Hobart and specialises in Henna eyebrow tinting and Lash Lifting.   As well as this, she is also available for waxing, makeovers, skin consultations and facial treatments.

Believing in health and wellness to achieve great skin, she is also a yoga teacher.  We look forward to seeing more about that in the future!

We are so excited to have her on board and hope you also enjoy the amazing array of skin care, beauty and wellness treatments with her.

Phillipa – Customer Liaison 

Phillipa is our IT, media and communications guru.  As well as being at our Front Desk as you arrive and greeting you with a smile, she is making sure our website, marketing and computer systems are being updated to match our exciting products!

With a strong background in Fine Arts, fashion and retail, she brings a positive and creative flair to our front desk!

Kirsty – Online Superstar  

Kirsty has taken over our online store organisation!  She packs the orders, chases the product queries and makes sure everything is as it should be!  Outside of our glorious office, she is actually an amazing marathon runner who balances her super busy life with multiple jobs, fitness and three young boys (and one big one of course)!
