As a child I remember coming over the bridges into Paradise Point on our holidays, and feeling a sense of relaxation with just seeing the water. This is when my love and connection with water, and Paradise Point, began. Growing up in Brisbane, I was raised in the gumtree-lined outskirts of the city, where it was tranquil and I was able to get close to nature. I studied remedial massage therapy 15 years ago when I chose to get out from behind a desk and work closer helping people. I got my feet wet in the industry getting jobs in beauty salons, day spas and gyms, and was able to see all sides of remedial therapy for 5 years before deciding to go out on my own.

I have always believed the benefits of joining the “remedial” and “luxury” sides of the massage experience together. I have been to many physiotherapists, gym massage clinics and even beauty salons with curtained rooms, not providing much privacy between you and your therapist, with very basic surroundings. My vision has always been to create somewhere very special to go for your therapy, providing beautifully relaxing atmosphere, for your privacy and comfort. These little things, I believe, are the big things – the more comfortable and relaxed you are, the better the results from your therapy.

I have called the northern end of the Gold Coast home for over 12 years. Being a part of the local community of Paradise Point enables me to stay connected with all the clients, and appreciate the stresses and demands of local small business owners and their families. I love to be at forefront of the business, whether that be as the first point of call on the phone or as you walk in, and still as a Remedial and Laser Therapist.

SALLY HARRIS, SENIOR REMEDIAL THERAPIST

Sally brings to Total Essence over 10 years of massage and personal training experience. Her background in competitive sport and passion for health and wellness is evident throughout her treatments. Having been a pain sufferer in the past, she is well aware of the potential outcomes that massage services can offer those in need and takes pride in her high level of care for all clients. As a part of her service, she will provide you with suggestions for home care and avenues to assist you in keeping your concerns at bay.

Currently she is the only therapist on the Gold Coast proficient in Remstone (remedial hot stone). Along with performing relaxation, remedial, pregnancy and relaxation hot stone her specialty is the ability to get the right mix by combining both relaxation & remedial techniques that allow the client to unwind and enjoy their treatment.

In addition to her years of clinical experience and drive for positive treatment outcomes she can also offer additional services in Dry Needling and Lymphoedema Care. Having now attained the level of Lymphatic Clinician she can attend to pre and post operative care, Lymphoedema sufferers and those just wanting a Detox. LEANNE HUTCHINSON, SENIOR REMEDIAL THERAPIST

Leanne has always been fascinated with the body and its movement. Remedial Massage has allowed her to explore the reasons why our bodies become dysfunctional, and allows her to actively aid in the repair of the damages. She advocates corrective stretches coupled with the latest techniques in Remedial Therapy to help balance your body and regain functional movement.

Her treatments are designed around the needs of each client, and can vary from a light touch for the most sensitive, to a firm pressure for the athlete. Leanne is knowledgeable in the most advanced of therapy techniques, including: Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Lymphatic Drainage, Deep Tissue, Sports Injury Management, Pregnancy Massage and Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Management.

DAN COLLINS, REMEDIAL THERAPIST

Dan comes to Total Essence with over 20 years in the Health & Fitness industry. Beginning his career as a personal trainer and health club manager, he has extended his talents and knowledge of the body to Remedial Massage. A local to Paradise Point since arriving with his family from the UK in 1998, Dan has worked extensively with professional sports teams in some of our top sporting codes, including NRL, AFL, Super Rugby & State Cricket.

Dan is always excited to talk with clients about how habits in either training or everyday movement can be affecting your physical wellbeing. Combining his extensive knowledge of the body with massage technique and lifestyle adjustments, he can ensure you are reaching your optimal performance. Using a combination of deep tissue, sports and relaxation massage techniques, Dan can help you get back into the shape you’re after.

FIONA SAXTON, REMEDIAL THERAPIST

Fiona is a remedial massage therapist and Reiki practitioner who practices yoga and is currently studying for a degree in Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine. With a special interest in energy healing and mind-body-spirit medicine, Fiona offers a unique combination of Swedish massage, for its relaxation benefits, with remedial massage techniques, to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction, infused with the healing energy of Reiki, which may assist to re-balance the chakras (energy centres) of your body and facilitate healing at a deeper emotional level.

Recognising that you are Body, Mind and Spirit and seeking to bring the three elements together in one harmonious whole. “Namaste”

TOM MCDERMID, REMEDIAL THERAPIST

“Pamper as much as you punish…”finding that balance in life is something Tom likes to help his clients with using remedial massage. With a broad clientele ranging from the minimally active and injured to the extremely active and athletic (including the Gold Coast Titans NRL team). Tom prefers to let the clients needs guide the treatment he provides. With a wide selection of techniques at his fingertips Tom finds using a combination usually provides the exceptional result his clients are expecting.

Tom also specialises in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), which has been found to have many positive attributes for lymphedema, recovery and body detoxification.

KRISTINA CHASE, REMEDIAL THERAPIST

Kristina has a caring and friendly nature and specialises in a blend of both remedial and relaxation technique, focusing on the mind-body connection, which helps to ease muscle tension and pain, whilst at the same time leaving you feeling de-stressed and relaxed. With over 10 years experience as a therapist, she offers a wide variety of treatment modalities such as, trigger point therapy, pregnancy massage, manual lymphatic drainage as well as, remedial and relaxing Swedish massage.

Kristina is passionate about a holistic approach to health, with a special interest in stress management to help reduce the effects of chronic stress and improve quality of life. Kristina has just completed her degree in Naturopathic medicine. She is also a certified Pilates Instructor, therefore can help educate you on improving posture and correcting muscle imbalances, which can often be the cause of muscle aches and pains.

BEC VAN BENNEKOM, RECEPTIONIST & REMEDIAL/SPA THERAPIST

Having recently relocated to the Gold Coast with my family, I am excited to be apart of the Total Essence team. Whilst you will predominately meet me on reception, you may also occasionally receive a treatment from me as well. I have a strong belief that we all need to live a balanced life and I believe that massage is an important component of achieving this balance.
