“SCARY CHRISTMAS AND A CRAPPY NEW YEAR

Kim and Richie, the “guide” and driver, were unprofessional, negligent, misinforming, hurtful, immature, unsafe, and incapable of performing the basic duties inherent in maintaining the integrity of the tour (a tour which itself was false advertisement by the company who knew for months in advance that they would not be providing services listed prior to booking, i.e. visiting the penguin colony, because in Kim’s own words: “it might be a deal-breaker for too many people”) – Tucan later lied about this again. This was by far the worst travel experience of my life. On the first day of the tour, the leader revealed publicly to the group that she was having casual sex with the driver out of loneliness. Thereafter, the tour became about their drunken debaucheries and it was hard to feel safe riding around tight corners of a mountain after seeing the way they drunk at length every night (and in fact, sometimes couldn’t even recognize us the night before they would be driving us long distances the next day). Many of the bus’s windows were duck-taped shut and the tour was constantly leaking in dust and debris, failing to insulate the cold and making passengers sick. The tour management gave misinformation and repeatedly lied about pertinent information, leading to serious medical injuries and issues among the passengers. The management also mocked the passengers, making fun of them for their age and weight, publicly behind their back. When I brought these to Tucan’s attention, they simply asked the driver and passenger, whose vacation we were apparently paying for, to comment. Tucan also misadvertised for their tour, knowing fully that the penguin colony was closed although they continued to broadcast it FOR MONTHS as a part of their tour (they told us on the first day that we would not be seeing this even though their later claim was that they left the advertisement up because they figured we would end up seeing the penguins anyway – apparently it is their corporate culture to repeatedly lie to their customers and disvalue their rights). Need I go on? This doesn’t even begin to touch upon my grievances with these scam artists. Their tours cater to their employees, not to the customers. They are entirely about drinking and not about culture or “adventures” — you will be financing their own employees’ drunken casual sexcapades. Beware!
