WHY REMEDIAL MASSAGE?

When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile, Remedial Massage provides the perfect healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow.

Remedial Massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.

Key benefits of Remedial Massage include:

  • The stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed;
  • The calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort;
  • The toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility

An improvement to the health of the cells, the repairing of tissues, and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through therapeutic relaxation.

Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions can be addressed with Remedial Massage include fibrositis, spondylitis, arthritis, frozen shoulder, muscular cramps, whiplash, muscular atrophy and common sports and dancing injuries.

Waves Body Works provides an excellent option for anyone looking to relieve themselves of stress.

Come in and be impressed by the wide array of treatments, all performed by a conscientious and dedicated therapist, Pauline.

Waves Body Works is registered with AAMT Australia and health rebates are available under private health insurance.

Relaxation/Swedish – the most common type of massage; combines various hands-on techniques including gliding, kneading, and cross-fiber friction to break up muscle knots, called adhesions. Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to energy work.

Remedial – one of the most popular forms of massage therapy as it addresses the aches, pains and injuries many of us seem to fall prey to at some stage in our lives. Remedial massage is a varied therapy and combines a number of different techniques such as massage, trigger points, myofascial release, passive stretching, deep tissue and lymphatic drainage techniques to work on damaged or sore muscles, soft tissue or joints.

Sports Therapy – combines both classical and specific techniques designed to provide therapeutic impact for the unique physical and biomechanical needs of athletes to keep them training at peak performance.

  • Pre Event massage complements the warm- up prior to athletic events by stimulating circulation, increasing flexibility, calms nervous tension and prepares the body for maximum output.
  • Post Event: Reduces the effects of muscular tension, muscle fatigue and muscle soreness, aiding in recovery of the body by assisting venous return and removal of lactic acids.
  • Training and Conditioning: Regular fine tuning will help eliminate trigger points and biomechanical stress, relieving the tender areas before they became problems areas, enabling the body to train harder.
  • Restoration/ Rehabilitation: Sports Massage Therapy can be a good adjunctive treatment in both chronic and acute injuries, aiding in the speed of injury healing.

Hot Stone Massage 60 Minutes $130

Hot stones have been used as a healing tool for thousands of years by many indigenous cultures around the world, from the ancient Chinese, Egyptians and Romans to the native healers of North and South America.

Hot Stone Massage uses volcanic basalt stones that have been tumbled by the fresh waters of rivers for millenia to a perfectly smooth and rounded shape. Basalt stones have an extraordinary ability to store and emanate a consistent and soothing heat for a long period of time. They possess a wonderful grounding healing quality, able to rejuvenate and connect us back to the basic elements of nature.

While the soothing heat from the stones gently swirls through your body, the therapist begins to massage you with a set of hot stones. The effect is an absolute divine experience of deep relaxation and restoration.

Benefits of hot stone massage include:

• improves blood circulation

• invigorates lymphatic drainage

• stimulates metabolism

• relieves aches and muscular tension

• relieves stress and tension

• soothes the nervous system
