LASER HAIR REMOVAL

At Wax Works we use MEDICAL GRADE LASERS. We have the Candela GentleLASE in our Merrylands Salon and the Polylase in our Pemulwuy Salon.

Candela GentleLASE offers the most efficient laser treatment available. The lasers emit a single concentrated light beam which is absorbed and transmitted by the pigment in the hair, converted into thermal energy and effectively ‘disables’ the hair’s ability to grow. It features a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) that acts on the skin to counteract the heating effect of the laser for your comfort.

We also use a Medical Grade Polylase Alexandrite 755nm Laser. The very best in state-of-the-art laser hair removal, direct from the USA. The Polylase 755nm Alexandrite hair removal laser uses a special cooling system that lowers the temperature of the skin during, and after, laser exposure. This is why the treatment is regarded as a lot less painful than other treatments.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PAINFUL?

Most patients describe the treatment as mildly uncomfortable, similar in sensation to the flick of an elastic band. The degree of discomfort experienced is dependent on the energy levels used, skin type, hair type, and of course the individual. Generally the treatment is well tolerated and relatively pain free. For those who find the procedure uncomfortable or are treating a sensitive area, a topical anaesthetic is available (Emla Cream).

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOU COME IN FOR A TREATMENT:

To maximise results and to reduce the risk of skin reactions the following activities should be avoided for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment:

• Sun exposure (apply a SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and avoid the sun)
• Solariums
• Fake tan
• Harsh exfoliants or products containing AHA’s*
• Do not wax, tweeze, threading, or emjoy or force hair in the area, as you will stimulate the hair follicle.
• Patient may shave, trim, use depilatory cream or clippers between treatments
