e: lisa.bundesen@wpias.com.au
Lisa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, was Chair of the Forensic Accounting Special Interest Group of the ICAA for 3 years, is a Certified Fraud Examiner, holds a Masters of Transnational Crime Prevention (with distinction) and lectures on fraud related matters on the Forensic Accounting minor in the Bachelor of Business at Queensland University of Technology.
Lisa has over 23 years forensic accounting experience including 4 ½ years as an Investigative Accountant with the Queensland Police Fraud and Corporate Crime Investigation Group. She has conducted numerous fraud risk assessments and fraud investigations. She has given evidence as an expert witness in Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts. Lisa is also a Director and Treasurer of RSPCA Qld Inc, and more recently she became a Director of Wesley Mission Brisbane. Lisa’s professional background also includes her senior positions as Partner, Forensic Services for both BDO and PPB Advisory.
Due to the significant increase in the number of fraud cases and well-publicised losses suffered, particularly by Mum and Dad investors, WPIAS has made the decision to expand its Forensic Accounting Services division and is delighted to do so under the supervision of someone with Lisa Bundesen’s credibility, experience and professional integrity. In a difficult economy, we are seeing a significant increase in the level of fraud being committed by employees, executive and non-executive. Fraud prevention measures are substantially less costly when compared with the longer term financial and emotional cost to businesses and their stakeholders when assets are misappropriated and retirement savings disappear. In order to help reduce the incidence of financial fraud, fraud risk assessments are highly recommended including for businesses operating in the not-for-profit sector. Fraud Risk Assessments are undertaken to highlight the level of risk an organisation currently faces considering the control environment in which it operates and provides measures to strengthen the control environment to reduce the risk of fraud occurring.
