Blyss Therapies originated from the core belief of the importance of looking after our body through treatment, good nutrition and a healthy mindset.

Blyss traces its humble beginnings to 2011, operating out of a single room in the Yarra Valley. Initially treating clients from the local area, it soon became necessary to move to a larger space to be able to service a growing client base. In 2014 Blyss found common values in holistic health, wellness and exercise with the Belinda Carusi Fitness Hub in Kilsyth South, where it now calls home.

“Treatment is not a luxury, but a necessity”

Blyss Therapies offers a number of different treatment modalities, including Sports Therapy, Myotherapy and Remedial/Sports Massage. We are passionate about;

  • Holistic health & healing
  • Achieving mental balance
  • Helping clients achieve results in their training and daily life, pain free

At Blyss, you treatment is not solely an appointment, rather an experience designed to enhance both your physical and mental wellbeing.

Ash Law

Ash joins Blyss Therapies with 5 years experience in Personal Training and Myotherapy for elite athletes and the general population. Ash pursued her career with the desire to work with Olympic athletes, however she learned quickly of the huge gaps in knowledge of the general population in health, fitness and recovery.

Ash now works with athletes and the general population as her passion grows for educating and assisting everyone she meets with their health and recovery. Ash believes strongly in the benefits of Myotherapy and exercise as a form of mental as well as physical recovery.

Ash is always increasing her knowledge and keeping up to date with the latest research. She intends to continue studying and complete her Masters in Physiotherapy in 2017 to broaden her knowledge and skills to enhance her holistic approach to health and recovery. Ash has developed a keen interest in neuroscience and her ultimate goal is to work with those who live with neurodegenerative disease and traumatic brain injuries.

Ash has completed a number of courses to date include
Bachelor of Health Science/Major in Anatomy & Physiology
Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy
Advanced Dry Needling
Mobilization with Movement
Certificate III & IV in Fitness

Outside of work, you’ll usually find Ash at the beach! She loves to surf, go to the gym, travel and makes time for her own treatments with Blyss’ own Alyssa Ford, as well as spending time with friends and family.

Maddie McDonald

Maddie joins the Blyss team with an extensive background in Dance & Gymnastics. Ranging from Ballet and Aerobics to Aerial Silks and Pole Fitness, she knows first-hand how frustrating even a small injury can be, and the benefits of looking after your body through stretching, recovery and treatment.

Maddie comes from a background as a dance instructor, specialising in enhancing technique and flexibility. She prides herself on incorporating this knowledge into her treatments, helping to educate & empower clients to utilise stretching technique to achieve the results they’re after.

Before joining Blyss, Maddie previously ran her own small business as a remedial masseur, where her clients found positive results in their strength and flexibility. Maddie gets weekly treatments and is always open to learn, try and research new methods of recovery.

‘If you train like a champion, you need to recover like a champion’

In her spare time when Maddie is not training in the gym or at the dance studio, she is spending time with her beloved Staffordshire Bull-Terrier, Max.

Matt Ross

Matt handles all things admin and finance, pretty handy given his former career working in corporate banking. Now a career firefighter, Matt divides his time between serving the community and taking care of all the paperwork at Blyss. This allows our therapists to focus on what they do best, delivering quality treatments.

His passions include training, getting outdoors and travel. It’s rare that you’ll find Matt sitting still; he’s regularly involved in community events like the Puffing Billy Race, Firefighter Stair Climb and Crossfit Competitions. Matt values the benefits of treatment, regularly getting a treatment himself and actively integrating mobility and stretching into his training. You might see Matt around the Hub, so be sure to say hi if you do.

Services

Sports Therapy

Sports Therapy is a form of treatment geared toward active people. It is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which primarily affect movement and mobility. Sports therapists aim to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, utilising a combination of techniques available.

Myotherapy

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and pain thus affecting movement and mobility. Myotherapists utilise a range of treatment techniques to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia).

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a treatment modality that manipulates the soft tissues of the body including movement for a specific therapeutic effect, rather than a general therapeutic effect. It uses relevant techniques, lubricants and movements according to the client’s needs and response. This leads to the healing process, which begins at the cellular level aiding soft tissues in repairing, restoring functional integrity and adapting back to health.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a non-invasive form of myofascial trigger point therapy, whereby a solid filiform needle is inserted into a muscle suffering multiple contraction knots. A great way of aiding the release of muscle tightness, it also promotes recovery at the cellular level.

Corrective Exercise

Corrective Exercise is performance of physical exertion for improvement of health or correction of physical deformity.
