STORY

Myotherapy literally means Muscle Therapy. It bridges the gap between Remedial Therapy and private practice Physiotherapy. We are trained to practice within an evidence-based biomedical framework and our treatment is result-oriented. It involves assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

Myotherapy is not massage. Massage is only one of the wide ranges of manual therapy techniques that will be used as part of the Pain Management plan by a myotherapist.

Myotherapy is a treatment program aims not just to treat the pain – but to let client understands their own bodies and the biomechanisms, so they will understand the reason where their pain came from and learn how to control the pain by moving correctly so they can get back to their active life or daily functions as much as possible.
To achieve this, a Myotherapist will target 3 major areas:

(1) RESET – Treat the Pain, restore range of movement and joint mobility usual various soft tissue manual therapy and equipments. The benefit of Remedial Therapy those are well known by the public in fact is fallen into this category only.
(2) REINFORCE – Next step is to ensure that the change we made is maintained
(3) RELOAD – Then use corrective exercises to re-engineer their movement system, i.e. to retrain a correct movement pattern using the new gained movement range, to retain it and then train to improve stability. Remember: “You use it or you lose it!”

Therefore, a myotherapy session consists of a thorough top to bottom assessment to investigate what dysfunctions and limitations the client has, consultative discussion of their conditions, manual therapy treatment, corrective exercise training and propose strategy so they can manage on their own after the above 3 areas are achieved.
