Services
Massage in brief
Massage utilizes sensitive therapist hands to release the muscular imbalances caused by injury, work or aging. Massage health benefits include: increased muscle and joint flexibility, pain relief, relaxation, quicker sports injury recovery, injury prevention and improved wellbeing.
Therapy Max massage therapists will tailor a massage to your requirements and may combine different massage styles to suite you. Where necessary, they work closely with your physiotherapists and health practitioners to speed recovery.
Sports Massage
By focusing on specific muscle groups, sports massage increases muscle flexibility and lactic acid removal. This assists the continuation of training programmes and reduces risk of injury. Many athletes use sports massage during increased training periods and following competition.
Once the muscles are warmed up, a firm, deep massage is applied. Therapists are well trained in anatomy and will release the entire length of stiff muscles, and any compensating tightness in surrounding tissues. This can sometimes be uncomfortable, but produces more effective results. Sports massage can also involve assisted stretching of tighter muscle groups, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, traction and prescriptive exercises.
Therapy Max therapists see many triathletes, swimmers, footballers of all codes, runners, walkers and endurance athletes for sports massage.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage uses specific therapeutic massage techniques to relieve muscular imbalances. This may be caused by injury, work stress and ageing. This is also a common massage for those who wish to experience their first massage.
Techniques includes effleurage (long strokes); tapotement (tapping or cupping), kneading and deep frictions. Other techniques that may be used include shiatsu, reflexology, acupressure trigger point therapy, and assisted stretching and traction.
Remedial massage stimulates healing by direct, but controlled pressure over injured, painful, or tight muscles. Therapy Max therapists have vast experience with injuries and achieve excellent results when assisting recovery. Where necessary, they will work closely with physiotherapists and health practitioners to speed recovery.
